Is there an AV / Out BNC Male to USB 'In' cable / rope available for video recording?
I'm looking for a cable out of my camera with AV / BNC. I want to register clipings video on my laptop which has USB "in". Suggest cable or other options. I save clipings surgeries (Actually, my father has to … as a surgeon ..) and the camera is a special kind .. so do not tell me to get new video cameras and other things .. Just suggest ways for ports indicated … Thank you! The laptop also has firewire ….
AV / BNC is analog. To enter the computer of the video should be scanned before it reaches the USB digital communication protocol. You need a "/" Digital Bridge "analog" that passes between camera and computer. – The bottom of Pinnacle (Dazzle) may cause the video quality is not so good. Spend more for better quality … Canopus may have something that meets your needs. I hope your computer has an expansion slot so you can make upgrade to FireWire transfer rather than USB.
High Definition Multi-Camera
HIGH DEFINITION MULTI-CAMERA
On March 26th I instructed our first HDCAM multi-camera jobs through of six Sony HDW-F900 camcorders. It was a great experience that brought to light several things you should consider if you do a similar job.
First some details. We were shooting two performances of stand up comedian Omid Djalili at the London Palladium. Production company that rented us have spent Procam before shooting performances by comedian Ross Noble and other comic acts. The end will be utilized for a DVD release and possible TV broadcast.
We were asked to use F900s as the company wanted the best quality HDCAM images possible. And of course, shooting in HDCAM increases the potential for international sales. After talking to HD expert Paul Wheeler, we chose to shoot in 50i, the interlaced mode used for television broadcast in the UK and Europe (PAL). Paul suggested this to get more of a vibrant look than using a progressive scan mode (film look) would achieve. (An earlier E-Zine covering the difference between progressive scan and interlace settings.)
Downconverters
Using the F900 meant having to put downconverters on the back of each camera. This is because the F900 has only one component HDCAM output. To effectively manage the fire I needed to see images from all six cameras at a basic gallery we has set up backstage. Using the camera's component (RGB) output will require running three cables from each camera to our backstage monitor setup much more of a hassle and cost than running a single BNC from each downconverter use HD SDI output. Even camera operators needed to use the camera HD component output to feed the 7-inch HD LCD screens, we are fitted with their camcorder handles, so they did not have to stare into the viewfinder for 90 minutes solid to monitor their shots.
Our engineers concluded that downconverters, especially older models, are often not to be trusted to judge the sharpness of focus and exposure. You must be very careful. We have some brand new Miranda downconverters, and they were fine when you used the HD SDI output. On the technical bench in our rooms, we found that when you use the SD (standard definition) SDI output results are best when the camera is set to 24P. Otherwise, the picture tends to be soft and the exposure you see on screen is not the same as in the recorded image. The strongest signal came from the HD component outputs on the camera itself.
HD BNC cables
A few comments here. First, if you're using an HD SDI output, and you must drive more than ten feet of cable to use BNC cables that are made to bear the HDCAM signals. These cables are thicker and can lead to more information. A standard BNC cable just can not handle transporting the signal over more than several meters, and you will not see something about monitoring end.
Second, one of our HDCAM cables was about ten feet shorter than we needed. We tried to use a barrel to connect two HD BNC cables and it did not do the job. So we had to use the SD (standard definition), composite video output of the downconverter, as explained above, is not ideal. To get around this problem by looking at pictures, there seemed to be soft and overexposed, I kept checking the camera, using the COMMS system to make sure he looked the picture sharp. With regard to exposures so our engineer at the images via a HD waveform monitor to confirm they were good.
HD LCDs
In our backstage gallery, we used two models The monitor discussed in an earlier E-Zine: Panasonic BT-LH1700WE 17-inch LCD screen and Sony LMD-9050 LCD. It was the first time I had personally worked with them. Both are HD displays and both are excellent. Using these new screens have been removed earlier concerns I had about LCDs is unable to deliver the same quality of image as CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors. The colors were true, the images sharp and the brightness and contrast were consistent, regardless of which angle you look at the screens off. They are also lightweight and take up less space. And let us not forget that they are environmentally friendly.
Summary
To summarize, if you use the F900 for a multi-camera work, the user the latest model of downconverter, you need HD compatible BNC cable for longer runs and by all means use the new models of HD LCDs. And of course, see your focus! Keep it sharp.
